Village Rising exists to close the gap between crisis and stability by providing integrated childcare, resource navigation, financial literacy, and housing support. We work to rebuild the modern-day village by creating pathways to family stability, economic mobility, and community leadership one family at a time.

Our Purpose

Village Rising was founded on a simple, powerful idea: that a connected community is a thriving community. We bridge the gap for families who need support but may not qualify for traditional aid, because of income requirements.

Our work is rooted in integrity, service, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to flourish. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making a tangible impact.

How We Serve

We offer a range of life advancing programs designed to meet low-to-moderate income families. Our offer the following programs:
1. Overnight and Drop-In Childcare
2. Essential Family Resource Center
3. Housing Stability Program
4. Workforce Development & Internship Program

VR Childcare and Resource Program

Our Program provides access to nurturing early education environments while offering parents and families a unique fill in the gap program for essential support and community resources. We combine quality childcare with subsidy solutions tailored to serving families in need. This program also connects families to additional resources to empower the entire family to grow and succeed together.


Housing Stability

We facilitate temporary and emergency housing solutions by offering families immediate housing support. This includes a comprehensive suite of resources ranging from legal mediation to personalized budgeting workshops designed to prevent eviction. This intervention-based approach that addresses the systemic causes of housing insecurity, ensuring that vulnerable households have a stable foundation for professional and personal growth.


Live Scan & Access to Employment Services

Village Rising's Live Scan program supports low to moderate income individuals and families by removing common administrative barriers to employment and professional advancement. We provide access to required background checks and related document services, such as mobile notary support, that are often prerequisites for jobs, licensing, housing, and volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to ensure that cost, process complexity, or lack of access does not prevent individuals from moving forward with employment or stability-building opportunities.

Professional Education Program

We provide access to professional workshops and advocacy services that aims to empower the entire family to grow and succeed together. First time home-buying workshops, loan and borrowing workshops, credit education series.

Workforce Development & Internship Program

Village Rising’s Workforce Development Program offers structured internship and skill-building opportunities for college students, emerging professionals, and community members seeking meaningful pathways to growth. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and real-world exposure, participants develop practical skills, professional confidence, and a clearer understanding of their career direction. The program is designed to strengthen workforce readiness while creating equitable opportunities for individuals and families to build sustainable futures.

Shyreese leads Village Rising’s early learning programs, supporting children’s development while partnering with families to build strong foundations for long-term success. Her approach reflects the organization’s belief in connection as the foundation of thriving communities.

As Executive Director of Village Rising, Paskael leads programs and partnerships that connect families to resources and opportunities. His work is guided by integrity, service, and a commitment to strengthening family stability and community growth.

Community Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator

Domoniquic supports Village Rising as Community Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator, bringing 6 years of dedicated experience at the intersection of advocacy, program coordination, and civic engagement. With a proven background in community organizing, stakeholder collaboration, and service navigation, he excels at forging strategic partnerships and delivering wraparound services that address complex social needs. Grounded in lived experience and a commitment to equity, Domoniquic’s empathetic and results-driven leadership ensures programs are accessible, accountable, and sustainable.

Kristina Phillips

Program Advisor

Kristina Phillips serves as a Program Advisor for Village Rising, bringing over 16 years of healthcare and regulatory leadership combined with more than 10 years of dedicated community and ministry service. As Practice Manager and Community Engagement Strategist at an oncology care center, she excels in optimizing operations, building partnerships, and aligning people, processes, and programs to drive mission-driven growth and support underserved populations.

Tyrone Jackson

Financial Advisor

Tyrone C. Jackson serves as Chief Financial Officer and Board Member for Village Rising, drawing on over 50 years of combined public- and private-sector leadership in finance, operations, and management. With more than 30 years at California’s Franchise Tax Board as Administrator I and 20+ years managing fast-food operations, he brings expertise in compliance, team leadership, and operational efficiency. Committed to fiscal responsibility and community impact, Tyrone strengthens Village Rising’s financial transparency and long-term sustainability while co-owning INCHES Safety Solutions LLC.

Lucile Jackson

Director of Resources

Lucile J. Jackson serves as Director of Resources for Village Rising, bringing over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, resource development, and community safety education. Her background includes strategic planning, organizational operations, workforce training, and cross-sector partnerships, with a strong focus on building sustainable systems that expand access to critical resources for families and underserved communities. Her work reflects Village Rising’s commitment to accountability, empowerment, and long-term community resilience.
